A few weeks ago, the team at Cloudasta was at Google Next 2026. The session I attended, led by Abhishek Hemrajani, a Senior Director, Product Management at Google Cloud, was in my personal opinion the most interesting and exciting one of the entire conference. 

April was a busy month for the Google ecosystem, highlighted by the annual Google Cloud Next convention and a practical set of updates rolling out across Google Workspace. This month brings notable performance improvements to Google Sheets, expanded standalone capabilities for Gemini, and new features designed to streamline daily workflows.

Google Cloud Next '26 has officially ushered in the "agentic era". Moving beyond simple generative AI assistants, Google announced a massive shift toward AI that acts as a secure, autonomous partner capable of proactively executing complex work on your behalf.

Google has released its March 2026 updates for Google Workspace. This month's rollout focuses on expanding AI automation capabilities, improving data analysis tools within Forms, and streamlining communication between Google Meet and Chat.

This past month, Google shifted the narrative from AI as a "tool" to AI as a "proactive helper." For the Workspace admins and IT managers we support, March was all about context—Gemini is getting much better at understanding not just what you say, but the environment you're working in.
