November 2025 brings a balanced mix of productivity boosters and essential governance updates to Google Workspace. From keeping your conversations connected seamlessly between meetings and chat to leveraging deep research across your apps, Google is tightening the integration between its core tools.

At Cloudasta, we’ve sifted through the latest releases to bring you the updates that matter most.

Seamless Connection Between Meet and Chat

The silo between your meetings and your messages is disappearing. You can now carry on conversations within Google Chat that are directly linked to your Google Meet events. This allows for pre-meeting coordination and post-meeting follow-ups without losing context. The chat thread will appear in your direct messages, stamped with the meeting title and date, ensuring action items don't get lost once the call ends.

Gemini Deep Research Expands to Workspace

Gemini's capabilities are getting a significant boost with Deep Research integration. Gemini can now search across your specific Google Workspace apps (including Gmail, Chat, and Drive) alongside Google Search.

For example, you can prompt Gemini to "catch me up on my new project related to remodeling the house," and it will scour your emails and files to provide a comprehensive answer.

Productivity Boosters for Meet and Calendar

Google has also released two highly requested features to help you manage your time and meetings more effectively.

  1. Longer Meeting Notes in Meet: If you rely on Gemini to take notes during your calls, you now have more control. You can toggle on "longer notes" for complex technical discussions or critical meetings where every detail matters, ensuring nothing gets lost in summary.
  2. Block Time for Tasks: Previously, tasks in Google Calendar were just small reminders that didn't prevent people from booking over them. Now, you can block off dedicated time for tasks. When creating a task (or clicking an empty slot), you can set visibility and "Do Not Disturb" settings, effectively guarding that time on your calendar so you can focus.

Critical Governance: Calendar Transfers and Shared Drive Expirations

Two major updates this month are essential for admins and data governance:

1. Transfer Secondary Calendars: Previously a pain point during offboarding, you can now transfer ownership of secondary calendars to a new user. This can be done via the user's settings or the Admin Console, ensuring critical team calendars aren't deleted when an employee leaves.

2. Shared Drive Expirations: The ability to set expiration dates for temporary collaborators is finally coming to Shared Drives. You can now set auto-expiring access for specific files and folders within a Shared Drive, offering tighter security for external sharing.

Visuals and Navigation: Nano Banana Pro and Chat UI

Creativity gets an upgrade with Nano Banana Pro, a state-of-the-art image generation tool now integrated into Slides, Vids, and Gemini. Whether you need to "beautify my slide," generate an infographic, or edit images within a video, this tool allows for complex visual editing directly in the browser.

Additionally, Google Chat has received a UI polish:

  • Redesigned Header: Navigate easily between threads, boards, and tasks with a new fly-out panel.
  • Message Previews: Hover over unread messages in the sidebar to get a quick preview without opening the thread or marking it as read.
